Director of Children's Minstry 

We are looking for a new team member to help support our ministries for children and their families, as we all seek to grow closer to Christ in a joyful, safe, and nurturing environment. This is a 9-month position, beginning in mid-August and ending in mid-May.

We are looking for someone who

• Loves Jesus and is excited to encourage our children and their families to get to know Jesus better.
• Willing to give a warm welcome and build positive relationships with all children, adults and young people in our communities and church.
• Has connections with other families in the community.
• Is flexible! We are a growing church family that is celebrating inherited ministries and innovative opportunities.
• Must pass a background check and adhere to our Safe Sanctuary policy.

To be an example of Christian discipleship and healthy, Christ-centered leadership to our children and church family by:

• Nurturing your own walk with Christ.
• Demonstrating appropriate boundaries in life, relationships, and ministry.
• Living out the gospel, not seeking perfection but embracing love, transparency and grace.
• Building relationships with kids, their families, and all members of our church family

To serve as a leader of the Children’s Ministry of Trinity Presbyterian Church:

• Plan and lead our 10:00 a.m. Children’s Sunday School Class using the curriculum provided, in conversation with the pastor.
  • Our Sunday School Classes meet September- April.
  • You will also need to recruit an adult volunteer to help you each Sunday. The Chrisitan Education Ministry Team will help you connect with folks.
• Plan and lead our Kid Worship Ministry, using the curriculum provided, during worship on Sunday mornings from 11:15 a.m. - Noon.
  • Kid Worship meets most Sundays from September- April.
  • You will also need to recruit an adult volunteer to help you each Sunday. The Chrisitan Education Ministry Team will help you connect with possible volunteers.
• Plan and Lead our Prayer Buddy Ministry (Kids partnered with adult mentors) that meets 3 times a year on Sunday mornings from 10:00 a.m.-10:45 a.m.
  • Our Christian Education Ministry Team will help you connect with possible mentors.
  • This ministry meets instead of Sunday School on those mornings
• Organize our Christmas Program with the help of volunteers
  • Last year we had about 30 kids participate in the Christmas Program.
  • Christmas Program practices happen during Sunday School and Kid Worship during November and December.
  • The program is usually one of the last two Sundays before Christmas.
• Lead two Children’s Messages a month during worship
  • These are 5-minute learning moments with the kids in our worship service.
  • The kids start in worship, come up for the Children’s message and leave with you for Kid Worship.
• Assist with planning and leading our Middler Night Ministry that meets 6 Friday Nights a year on Friday Nights from 5:30-7:30p.m.
  • This includes set-up, clean-up, ordering supplies and coordinating volunteers.
• Staff Meetings-Meet every other week with our Pastor, in person or over the phone for planning and evaluating ministry experiences

Accountability Structure

The Director of Children’s Ministry is directly accountable to our Pastor on a day-to-day basis as well as to our Personnel Ministry Team, Christian Education Ministry Team, and Church Session.

4 Additional Sundays of your choice (please plan volunteer coverage of two people for Sunday School and Kid Worship)

Snapshot of Commitment & Compensation

This is a 9-month, part time position, beginning in mid-August and ending in mid-May.

• Sunday mornings, 9:30 am – 12:15 pm
  • 9:30 Prep Time
  • 10:00-10:45 Leading Sunday School or Prayer Buddies or Christmas Program practice
  • 11:00-12:00 Leading a Children’s Message in Worship and then leading Kid Worship Downstairs
  • 12:15 Helping kids re-unite with their parents after church
• 6 Friday Nights in the School Year 4:30-8:00
• Prep-time
• A weekly phone meeting with the Pastor
• Special Events and/or projects of interest as determined by you and the pastor.
